Job Description
The Services required are set out as follows:
1. Be a befriender, a positive role model and a mentor to students;
2. Supervise students during activities, help manage disputes and
guide students towards building positive relationships;
3. Help monitor the attendance log-book to track and ensure students’
participation in the activities;
4. Work with Authority personnel in the follow-up on students who are
not participating in the activities;
5. Monitor students’ needs (i.e. social-emotional), such as looking out
for signs of social emotional distress that would necessitate referring
students for counselling or other support, and highlight or inform
Authority personnel about students who need support;
6. Provide information and/or access to relevant community resources
and developmental opportunities for further support to the students
7. Conduct termly workshops for students to cultivate positive life skills
and values at the Authority’s after-Authority engagement centre;
8. Plan and conduct termly bonding activities for the students at the
Authority’s after-Authority engagement centre;
9. Plan and faciltate scenario-based discussions in which students
discuss case studies with the objective to cultivate positive life skills
and values;
10. Provide qualitative termly reports on GEARUP students and others
that the youth worker has been befriending;
11. Organise at least one learning journey to an organisation / company
in the field of STEM / Finance / Food industry
