Job Description
A. Science Laboratory Support
Laboratory Preparation and Support
– Prepare, set up, and clear laboratory apparatus, materials, and
resources for Science lessons and activities.
– Assist teachers in preparing materials for practical investigations,
demonstrations, and STEM-related programmes.
– Ensure laboratories and preparation areas are clean, organised,
and ready for use.
Inventory and Resource Management
– Maintain an accurate inventory of laboratory equipment,
consumables, and teaching resources.
– Monitor stock levels and facilitate the replenishment of supplies.
– Organise and store equipment, materials, and chemicals
systematically.
Laboratory Maintenance
– Conduct routine checks on laboratory equipment and facilities.
– Report faulty equipment and coordinate maintenance or repairs
where necessary.
– Support bi-annual stock-taking and resource audits.
Safety and Compliance
– Adhere to laboratory safety procedures and guidelines.
– Ensure proper storage, handling, and disposal of laboratory
materials and chemicals.
– Conduct regular checks of safety equipment and report hazards
promptly.
B. General Office Operations Support
Reception and Frontline Services
– Serve as the first point of contact for parents, visitors, vendors,
and stakeholders.
– Manage enquiries professionally through face-to-face, telephone,
and email communication (if any).
– Facilitate visitor registration and ensure compliance with school
security procedures.
-Administrative Support
– Assist in managing correspondence, filing, documentation, and
record-keeping.
– Support administrative processes such as data entry, scheduling,
and appointment coordination.
– Prepare simple reports, letters, forms, and documents as
required.
School Operations Support
– Provide logistical support for school programmes, events,
meetings, and activities.
– Support the dissemination of information to staff, parents, and
external stakeholders.
C. Departmental and School-wide Support
Programme Support
– Support Science Department & Environment Education Strategic
Foci Team’s programmes such as EE LLP, GEM+, STEM
activities, exhibitions, learning journeys, and enrichment
programmes.
– Assist in school events, open houses, parent engagement
activities, and special projects (if any).
Collaboration and Communication
– Work closely with teachers, school leaders, operations staff, and
external vendors (if any).
– Respond promptly to requests and provide solutions-oriented
support.
– Maintain professional and positive relationships with
stakeholders.
Other Duties
– Perform any other duties assigned by the School Leaders,
Operations Manager, or Heads of Department in support of
school operations.
Expected Outcomes
The Science and School Operations Assistant will:
– Ensure Science lessons and programmes are supported
effectively through timely laboratory preparation and resource
management.
– Maintain a safe, organised, and conducive laboratory
environment.
– Deliver professional and efficient frontline customer service at the
General Office.
– Support smooth school operations through reliable administrative
and logistical assistance.
– Contribute positively to the overall experience of students, staff,
parents, and visitors.
