Job Description

Responsibilities

The CARES Officer will assess the subjects to identify underlying social issues which are criminogenic in nature, i.e., causal factors contributing to the offending behaviour.
This will include social issues faced by the subject’s next-of-kin (NOK), which have a nexus to the subject’s offence.
This assessment will, as far as possible, take place on an immediate basis subsequent to a subject’s interview by an investigator, via an interview by the duty CARES Officer.
This ensures prompt and timely assessments are made at the earliest opportunity, while taking note not to interfere with the ongoing criminal investigation.
The CARES Officer is also to monitor and manage the case to ensure follow through of service delivery and its completion
