Job Description

Academic Support and Technical Services

·        Provide technical support to facilitate preparationand delivery of full-time and part-time academic modules, student projects, anddepartmental events

·        Set up, test, operate, and troubleshoot softwareapplications and hardware equipment across all FMS facilities

·        Assess production requirements for individualstudents and group projects

·        Deliver good guidance on proper equipment handlingand usage protocols

·        Ensure technical readiness for academic activitiesextending beyond standard office hours

Inventory Management and Asset Control

·        Manage comprehensive inventory duties includingasset tracking, movement monitoring, and disposal coordination

·        Operate the FMS room and equipment booking systemmaintaining accurate records of all FMS equipment loans to staff and students

·        Enforce proper check-out and return procedures forequipment loans

·        Conduct regular stocktaking exercises andcoordinate disposal activities for obsolete or damaged equipment

·        Assist in procurement processes, tracking, andrenewal of software licences across all FMS systems

·        Conduct initial inspections and setup proceduresfor new equipment

·        Arrange coordination between FMS staff and vendorsfor delivery of newly procured equipment and software

EquipmentOperations and Maintenance

·        Operate,maintain, and troubleshoot the full range of equipment and software within FMSfacilities

·        Installand update software licences for FMS computer labs which include PC and Mac OS.

·        Update firmware for FMS equipment to ensure optimal performance and security compliance

·        Conduct routine general preventive maintenance procedures according to manufacturer specifications

·        Maintain detailed maintenance logs and schedules

·        Liaise with external contractors for specialised equipment maintenance

·        Coordinate ervice appointments and oversee repair work to ensure minimal disruption to academic activities

·        Manage warranty claims and service agreements

Safety and Compliance Management

·        Ensure adherence to the NP’s Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) guidelines

·        Maintain current knowledge of safety regulations and implement safety protocols
