Job Description

Job Description & Requirements·      Technical Executives (TEs) supporting the School of Design& Environment (DE) provide technical support for Pre-Employment Training(PET) and Continuing Education and Training (CET) programmes, including the following responsibilities:

 

a)   Module and Instructional support (PET & CET): Provide laboratory, design studio and workshop setup and in-class technical support for DE’s PET and CET modules, practical sessions, and assessments. Assist lecturers with demonstrations of experiments and equipment, conduct trial runs for practical classes. CET classes are held in the evenings and TEs are expected to provide full support for these classes too.

Exhibits & lab readiness :Set up exhibits and equipment in laboratories, design studios and workshop as required and maintain area cleanliness and housekeeping standards after each session.

b)   Utilisation reporting: Tabulate, compile, and submit the DE laboratory utilisation report each semester, in the format required by NP.

c)   Equipment upkeep: Proactively identify equipment requiring maintenance or repair; perform basic troubleshooting; raise service requests; liaise with external vendors for repair or servicing, tracking work orders to closure and updating records ;assist in sourcing vendors, seeking quotations, and preparing procurement specifications; and coordinate deliveries to ensure goods and consumables are received in good order.

d)   Pre-semester preparation: Prepare and set up laboratories, design studios and workshop equipment, required software, and student lab kits before the start of each semester; conduct stocktaking of existing kits, carry out maintenance, and liaise with external vendors to purchase and replace of faulty components to ensure kit completeness.

e)   Software& imaging: Ensure laboratories, design studios and workshop computers are updated to NP-stipulated versions, including operating systems, drivers, and application software; perform standard imaging or cloning to the approved build; and complete post-image validation checks before use.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records covering utilisation , inventory, maintenance and repair history, software versions/builds, and vendor service reports as required by NP.

Asset representatives: TEs supporting DE will bethe asset representatives and asset owners of equipment within thelaboratories, workshop and design studios. They will be required to performannual asset verification and asset checks.
